Insights
Happy New Year! I do hope you have had a good break over the festive season and had time to relax and refresh. I find January a good month to time to reflect, take stock and plan ahead.
2019 has been a busy year for us at Agenda. We’ve grown our research team substantially, increased the amount of content we are creating and sharing and taken the decision to change the technology platform that we use for our engagement surveys.
We continue to focus on working with non-profit clients in four sectors: UK third sector, UK social care, International NGOs, and International organisations including the UN; and our work is evenly split between UK and non-UK clients.
Whilst there are some differences between the sectors that we work with, we’ve noticed the following overall trends in what our clients are looking for in their engagement surveys:
More frequent, shorter surveys
Whilst many of our clients still run their full survey every year or two, we are seeing increasing numbers either replacing their full survey or augmenting it with shorter surveys, often run quarterly. Reduced admin and more real-time information can help keep the employee/volunteer experience high up the organisation’s agenda.
Broadening of scope
Clients are including more questions on respectful workplaces including discrimination, bullying and harassment, wellbeing, including stress and work life balance, diversity and inclusion, and for international clients, the safety and security of their people. We have recently updated our benchmark questions for these topics.
Gender reporting
Our clients are finding engagement surveys a powerful tool to understand the extent to which men and women have similar or different experiences of their organisations.
In 2020 our plans include:
New technology
Offering our new technology platform ViewPoint to our clients. Key enhancements will be online dashboards and modules to support short pulse surveys and action planning
Strategic People 2020
Our Strategic People Conference in London in March focussed on success through an inclusive culture. We do hope that you will be able to join us.
Sector events
Throughout the year, will be speaking and attending meetings and conferences of partners: AVM, Charity Comms, Charities HR Network, VODG, National Care Forum, Care England, BOND, Humentum, AHRMIO and Career Development Roundtable. We do hope to see you at these events.
We can only be successful if we are meeting the needs of our clients, so please do let us know your thoughts, issues and ideas for the year ahead.
We very much look forward to continuing our collaboration with you in 2020.
