Equality and diversity in the workforce

Nacro have an impressive record on workforce diversity, including this year receiving first place in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index, which lists the top 100 gay-friendly employers in the UK. Kulbir Shergill will be talking on the organisation-wide strategies that have facilitated this success, including staff communication, dignity at work, awareness-raising and developing managers to be able to recognise and manage incidents of bullying. Nacro's equality and diversity scheme focuses on the 6 main diversity streams, as well as other groups such as ex-offenders.

The workshops consist of a brief case study from a high performing organisation, followed by a chance to share ideas and current practice in group sessions. They are designed to explore various aspects of human resources processes in the voluntary and community sector in depth, and to identify and share good practice.

HR Directors, Heads of HR, HR Managers, Chief Executives, senior managers and others who are seeking to improve their organisation's approach to human resource management.

Participants receive a series of detailed reports, including an organisational scorecard setting out how the organisation's performance compares with 10-20 chosen peers and with the sector as a whole. Over 175 organisations of different sizes and sub sectors have been involved over the past 2 years.

This workshop is open to all organisations within the voluntary and community sector.
